What have you done recently to showcase your accent?

I still print articles or other materials for teachers that they could easily access for themselves online if I emailed the link. I also only use a paper calendar, not an electronic one.

How can we help DI and DN connect in the classroom and avoid…wasting time and confusion

Partnering a DN with a DI could help the DI navigate the technology world with some support. It would also help the two understand both perspectives and adapt.

This article was written in 2001. Are Prensky’s concerns still valid? Why or why not.

Absolutely. Technology changes so rapidly it is hard to stay up with what is out there and how to use it. Even as a person who feels very comfortable with technology I can't always keep up and depending on the environment I become a DI.

1. Yes, I maintained a blog last year for our salmon study and it was a great way for all the classrooms to keep up with the salmon and see pictures within their own classrooms.  It was also a way for the Fish and Wildlife folks to see what we were doing at school.

2. Advantages- You can connect with families much more frequently with a blog than with a traditional newsletter format.  It is also easier to showcase the learning via photos and videos.
3. Hangups- It takes some time to maintain a blog but no more than crafting a paper newsletter.
4. Blog vs. Website- A blog is fluid and can be updated all the time.  Websites are stagnant.
5. Blog as a replacement- A blog can be a replacement for paper newsletters or student handouts with instructions or project directions
