Kylene's First Post

1. Yes, I maintained a blog last year for our salmon study and it was a great way for all the classrooms to keep up with the salmon and see pictures within their own classrooms.  It was also a way for the Fish and Wildlife folks to see what we were doing at school.

2. Advantages- You can connect with families much more frequently with a blog than with a traditional newsletter format.  It is also easier to showcase the learning via photos and videos.
3. Hangups- It takes some time to maintain a blog but no more than crafting a paper newsletter.
4. Blog vs. Website- A blog is fluid and can be updated all the time.  Websites are stagnant.
5. Blog as a replacement- A blog can be a replacement for paper newsletters or student handouts with instructions or project directions
